How Much it Costs to Freeze Your Eggs in NYC

Hello! several months ago I got a fertility consultation at a fertility clinic called Spring Fertility.

They offered a free consultation for me in exchange for sharing my experience on social media. I have been thinking about egg freezing for the past few years, and this year it hit me that I should take some real steps towards it, so I went to at least get an idea of who it all works, and more importantly, how much it might cost out of pocket for a freelancer like me.

Here is part of the email they sent me after the financial consultation:

Option 1: Pay in Full Egg Freezing

  • Onetime payment of $9,960

  • Payment is due before or at the time of your baseline appointment

Option 2: Payment Plan (only can be used for 1 cycle)

  • Total: $9,960 no interest and you can pay in full at any time)

  • $0 down

  • Set up ACH payments for $249 x 40 months

  • If you choose the spring payment plan, you will need to pay the balance off for a subsequent cycle discount to apply to your next cycle, if applicable

Additional Fees: (ALL)

  • Storage: Storage is an additional $960 annually

  • Medication Package: Medications are a separate cost.

    • Your medication package is $3,900

    • Spring will collect this payment prior to your baseline appointment to ensure timely ordering and delivery of the medications for your cycle.

    • Medication Package is a self-pay bundle only. Payment for this service is ineligible to get reimbursed from your commercial insurance carrier. Since medications are bundled, we are unable to provide you with an itemized receipt listing medication prices that you received. We can however provide you with a receipt for the total payment you made for the package.

Payment Policies:

  • Fees: are due on or before the date of your baseline ultrasound, as reflected on your personal treatment calendar provided by your nurse.

  • Cryopreservation storage: annual storage fees for cryopreserved eggs/embryos is $960, with payment ONLY via ACH direct deposit of $960 per year. The ACH form is in your treatment consents and must be filled out prior to treatment.

  • Forms of payment: we accept cash, check, Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and ACH direct deposits, which we can help set up and facilitate. The fee for returned check for non-sufficient fund is $30.

Then here are some of the additional costs at the time of actual fertilizing and IVF:

$12,717 creation of embryo and testing (IVF cycle + pregenetic testing for health and gender)

$4,485 implantation more medication, less monitoring

$5,405 impantation less medication, more monitoring.

$4,025 2nd transfer, same

Being optimistic that I’ll have a partner to try with at 35, AND my implantation won’t fail the first time, my grand total came out to be $35,862. with the second IVF cycle, it’ll be $39,887 (or not sure if it costs an additional $12K to make another embryo :D)

again, disclaimer: These are the costs I found out when I went to @springfertility early this year for my consultation! So it’s the price for just one place in the heart of Manhattan, NY which I assume is one of the highest (but also a high-end premium experience).

I posted the video here asking for any experience with Egg Freezing outside of the US, so feel free to check out the comments or leave a comment on this page :)

Also in the previous blog post, I compiled all the DMs that I got when I asked people’s perspectives and experience on egg freezing. hope this helps in any way!
