bacon wrapped ddukochi
Here is my favorite Korean snack! dduck means rice cakes, and kochi means skewers! Apparently I used to watch a lot of cooking shows on tv when I was a kid. When my mom came home from work one day, I handed her a recipe I wrote down in my smoll little notebook, and this was it. she was skeptical at first but tried it out. And since then, it’s become our family snack :) enjoy.
Ingredients
Ddukboki rice cakes
Bacon
Skewers, or toothpicks
2 Tbsp Gochujang
3 Tbsp Rice syrup (OR honey / sugar)
1 Tbsp water
1 tsp Sesame oil
1 tsp Soysauce
soak rice cakes in warm water for 15 minutes
Wrap each rice cake with bacon (1-2 wraps), and secure it with skewer or toothpick
pan fry the bacon-wrapped rice cakes until bacon is fully cooked, while removing extra grease off the pan.
For the sauce, combine 2 Tbsp Gochujang, 2 Tbsp Rice Syrup, 1 tsp sesame oil, 1 tsp soysauce, and 1 Tbsp of water.
Brush the sauce onto the Bacon-Wrapped Ddukkochi. Enjoy!
Soak the rice cakes in warm water for 15 minutes. In the meantime, cut the bacon in pieces long enough to wrap around 1 ricecake.
wrap your rice cakes in bacon individually.
Then, secure the ricecakes into skewers. Sometimes the ricecakes break, so it may be easier to do this individually with small toothpicks.
But :) try the skewers for the gram lol
Combine the sauce ingredients and mix it well. Make sure you taste the sauce and if needed, put in less gochujang. This recipe is spicy. :-)
Mix mix mix
on a heated (preferrably nonstick) pan, place the skewers and cook until the bacon is crispy.
Gently brush the sauce all over the Ddukochi. If you want, try it without the sauce and see if you like it without too.
Enjoy !
