Tteokbokki

this is actually rabokki = ramen + dukbokki, a subcategory of the very very popular tteokbokki. but take out the ramen (if you insist,) and it’s my classic, no fail tteokbokki recipe.

my early 2000’s all-girls, school-uniform Korean middle school days are something inseparable from me. It’s the last part of my life I left behind as I left to New Jersey at the age of 13. This is the kind of street food I ate in my middle school days, and the cheap food we enjoyed as kids. thanks to  here's the no-fail ratio for your sauce🥰

Ingredients

1 Tbsp gochujang
2 Tbsp sugar
1 Tsp garlic powder
1/2 Tbsp soysauce
1/2 Tsp ramen packet seasoning

1 cup Ricecake (dduk)
1 cup water
Soft-boiled egg (optional)
Parsley for garnish

  1. In a small bowl, mix together the gochujang, sugar, garlic powder, soysauce, and 1/2 Tsp ramen packet seasoning

  2. In a pot, bring 1 cup of water to a boil and add in all of the seasoning mixture

  3. Once the mixture is boiling, add in the ricecakes and boil for about 5 minutes

  4. And then add in the ramen noodles and boil for another 5 minutes

  5. Serve it with some soft-boiled eggs and parsley, and enjoy!
