Moo Jorim (Korean Braised Radish)
Korean Braised Radish, also known as Moo Jorim, is a popular side dish in Korean cuisine. This dish is made by slowly cooking daikon radish in a flavorful broth made with soy sauce, garlic, and other aromatic ingredients. The result is a tender and succulent radish that has absorbed all the delicious flavors of the broth.
Braised radish is a great side dish for any Korean meal and can also be enjoyed on its own with a bowl of rice. In this recipe post, I will walk you through the steps to make this delicious and nutritious Korean Braised Radish in your own kitchen.
In a bowl, mix together the gochugaru, soysauce, minced garlic, sesame oil, and sugar to make the seasoning sauce
On a cutting board, peel the radish and slice it into pieces (about one inch thick)
Add the radish to a pot with a few generous spoonfuls of the seasoning sauce (you can layer the radish pieces, but add more sauce in between the layers)
Add some water or kombu broth to the pot until it's the same level as the radish
Cover the pot and let the broth and radish simmer together
Once you can poke the radish all of the way through (with a chopstick or fork), it's done. Enjoy!
